Alex Walker, IV is a lifelong resident of Chaffee County and a Salida High School graduate.  In 2000, Alex began his law enforcement career working for the Colorado Department of Corrections.  In 2004, Alex began working for the Salida Police Department as a Detective.  In 2007, Alex took a position with the 11th Judicial District Attorney’s Office as a Criminal Investigator, which encompasses Chaffee County, Fremont County, Park County and Custer County.  In 2017, Alex was promoted to Chief Investigator with the District Attorney’s Office.  During Alex’s time with the District Attorney’s Office, he assisted in many e homicide investigations in the four counties.  In 2021, Alex was hired by the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office as the Investigation Commander.  

During Alex’s law enforcement career, he was involved in the Chaffee County Drug Task Force, Alliance Against Domestic Abuse, Sexual Assault Response Team, Communities that Care, Child Protection Team, to name a few.  Alex attended and successfully completed the FBI Rocky Mountain Command College. In 2010, Alex was awarded the Michael Bell Investigator of the Year award by the Colorado District Attorney Council.  

On September 12, 2024, Alex was appointed as Undersheriff to serve under Sheriff Andy Rohrich.
