Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How do I contact someone who is in the Detention Facility?
A. Inmates can receive mail. Send letters to:
Chaffee County Detention Facility
Attn: (Inmates name)
PO Box 699
Salida, CO 81201
Q. Can I call an inmate in the Detention Facility?
A. No. Inmates are not able to receive phone calls. However, they are able to call out by calling collect, calling using a phone card that they purchase through the commissary, or family/friends can go to www.correctionalbillingservices.com and purchase prepaid phone time for an inmate. Do not call to leave a message for an inmate to call; messages will not be delivered unless it is an emergency. If it is an emergency you will be asked what the emergency is and it will be verified before the message is delivered.
Q. When are visiting hours, and who may visit?
A. County Detention Facility will no longer offer face-to-face visitiation. All visits will be conducted by video provided by Securus. You are now able to “video visit” an inmate via “Video Visitation” in the convenience of your own home. All visits must be scheduled and approved 24 to 48 hours in advance and are subject to monitoring and recording by jail staff. Go to https://securustech.net/friends to learn how to schedule appointments. You can also go to www.chaffeesheriff.org/jail for more information.
Official visits – from attorneys, clergy and others recognized by the jail as having an official function are allowed to visit more often, and are not counted as personal visits.
