The detention facility is relatively new, completed in September of 2003, and contains many features that allow for fewer staff than in older jails and that provide a high standard of safety and security for both staff and inmates. The facility has seven different housing units with a capacity of 105 inmates.

The detention staff consists of twenty two personnel: Jail commander, two sergeants, three corporals, seven full-time and five part-time detention deputies, one transport deputy, two cooks, and a registered nurse. Two court security deputies are also assigned to this division.

The facility provides an active work release program for minor offenders when the courts deem them appropriate. Persons convicted of crimes such as DUI and domestic violence are ordered to classes as part of their sentences. There are several other programs offered such as Anger Management, Life Skills, Non Violent Communications, Alcohol Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, and several Bible studies for positive interaction and reinforcement. Emphasis is placed on education and rehabilitation instead of punishment alone.

Visitation is held on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
