The Salida Post Office has advised that because of the inability to deliver the mail, or residents to get their mail in the evacuation area, that they are holding the mail at the post office and residents who are evacuated can pick it up there.
The Chaffee County Fairgrounds is in need of donations of hay, to assist in feeding evacuated animals. If you have some to donate, please take it to the west side of the livestock pavillion at the fairgrounds. They will appreciate your assistance. Thank you
Sheriff Spezze has now confirmed one structure was lost in Chaffee County. This structure was not in the evacuation area but was close to the boot on private land that is surrounded by public lands.
Sheriff Spezze has confirmed that all homes in the evacuation, still have electrical power.
The Pike and San Isabel National Forests today entered into Stage 1 and 2 fire restrictions, respectively.
