On July 5, 2018 Dana Schmidt who is a member of the Type 1 Team, Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team, assigned to the Weston Pass Fire met with Sheriff John Spezze and Undersheriff Joe McGuire to give an up-date on the Weston Pass Fire that continues to burn in Park County.
According to Mr Schmidt the winds shifted on July 4th and the fire progressed to the west into the Buffalo Peaks Wilderness and along the foothills to the east of the wilderness area.
At this time the Weston Pass Fire is not a threat to Chaffee County even though it has progressed towards our eastern border with Park County.
The Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team will give Sheriff Spezze and Phil Graham up-dates as they pertain to the Weston Pass Fire and any possible threat of it impacting Chaffee County.
If the Weston Pass Fire becomes a threat to Chaffee County the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office will immediately notify our residents by way of Everbridge and all of our local media outlets and the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office web page as well as our facebook page.
