Tactical Teams responds to call in Poncha Springs

On December 17, 2017 at approximately 12:00 pm the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a domestic disturbance in Poncha Springs. Deputies contacted the female victim who related that she went to her ex-husbands residence to get her kids and when she arrived she noticed that he was pointing a weapon at her. Fearing for her kids safety she went to the door to retrieve her kids and once again se observed a weapon being pointed at her. She was able to get her kids and get them to safety and then she called the sheriff’s office.
The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office responded and secured the scene by evacuating the neighbors in close proximity. The Chaffee Sheriff/Salida Police Tac Team was called and they took control of the situation. The Tac Team attempted to make contact with the male subject however he ignored commands to exit the residence. A percussion distraction device was introduced inside the residence and the suspect exited the residence and he was arrested without incident.
The suspect was transported to the Chaffee County detention Center where he was booked into jail. The suspect, Nolan Buckingham, age 32 from Poncha Springs, was charged with Felony Menacing, Domestic Violence and Resisting Arrest.
