Chaffee County Combined Tac Team Incident

On August 28, 2017 at approximately 8:36pm the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office received information of a disturbance at a residence in Johnson Village. Deputies responded to the location and were told that a male identified as John C. Brandon, age 48, from Johnson Village, had threatened the reporting party with a weapon. Deputies were also told that Brandon had a handgun and stated that the police would have to kill him if they wanted to arrest him. Brandon had fled the scene and deputies went to another home in Johnson Village where Brandon was known to reside at.
Upon arrival relatives of Brandon told deputies that Brandon was possibly in a garage behind the residence where he had been staying. Deputies tried to contact Brandon however he refused to come out stating that they would have to shoot him.
Members of the Chaffee County Combined Tac Team responded to the location. Several attempts were made to contact Brandon however he refused to exit the building. Chemical Munitions were then introduced into the building and after a short time Brandon exited and was taken into custody without incident.
Brandon was transported to the Chaffee County Detention Center where he was booked into jail on the charges of Felony Menacing, a Class 5 Felony.
