PRESS RELEASE

On Monday, August 23, 2016 the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Monte Vista Police Department that they had Jonathan Tischer, age 30, from Salida, Colorado, in custody. According to Monte Vista police they had received a call of a suspicious vehicle in their jurisdiction. When they responded they encountered a vehicle which fled the scene. Monte Vista Police pursued the vehicle which then crashed. Jonathan Tischer was found to be the driver of the vehicle and was taken into custody. This same vehicle was reported as stolen from Salida prior to this incident.

Jonathan Tischer was wanted at that time by both the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office and the Salida Police Department on numerous warrants.

Tischer is being held in the Rio Grande County jail on charges by the Monte Vista Police Department.

Tischer is being investigated by both the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office and the Salida Police Department in other unrelated investigations and faces possible numerous charges as a result of these new cases.
