For Immediate Release

On August 1, 2016 at 9:15 am the Chaffee County Communications Center received a call from parties walking on County Road 103 that found a person laying on the ground that appeared to be deceased.

Members of the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office responded and found a female on the east side of the river adjacent to County Road 103 and the railroad tracks that was laying on the ground. Chaffee County EMS responded and confirmed that the female was in fact deceased.

Investigators from the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office secured the scene and processed it as a crime scene.

The Chaffee County Coroner responded and took possession of the body which will be transported to Colorado Springs where and autopsy will be performed to indicate cause of death.

The female was identified as Christine M. Zwiefel, age 48 from Salida.

This incident remains under investigation by the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office.
