Chaffee County Search and Rescue Assists Injured Mountain Biker

Chaffee County Search and Rescue-South (CCSAR-S) assistedanEdwards woman who suffered a hip injury on the Little Rainbow Trail on Saturday. A member of the biking groupcontacted Chaffee County Communications Center at about 1:00pm to report that Beverly Freedman, 64 had slipped and injured her hip while mountain biking.

Chaffee County Search and Rescue – South mobilized 9 rescuers who stabilized her injury and carried Freedman down the trail to a waiting ambulance using a “big wheel” Stokes litter.

CCSAR-S would like to remind everyone that the monsoon season is underway and it is especially important to finish your hike or ride early in the day to avoid thunderstorms.
